Forza Horizon 6 (FH6) tuning guide

Forza Horizon 6 keeps the same underlying tuning model as previous Horizon games, but its mix of tarmac, dirt, and full rally events means one setup rarely does everything. This FH6 tuning guide shows you how to read your car, the order to adjust each setting, and the surface-by-surface tweaks that turn a twitchy build into something you can throw at any festival route. Start with the right build

Tuning numbers only make sense once your build is locked. In FH6, decide your performance index and class first, then settle your tires, drivetrain, and aspiration before you touch a single slider — because spring rates, gearing, and the differential all depend on the car's final weight and power. A swap to a different tire compound or a drivetrain conversion changes every downstream number, so do it before you tune, not after.

One FH6-specific habit: pick the discipline you actually drive. A road-racing build, a dirt build, and a cross-country build want different ride heights, spring softness, and tire pressures, and trying to make one car cover all three leaves it mediocre everywhere.

The FH6 tuning order

Work in dependency order so you never chase your own changes. This is the same proven sequence we recommend across every Forza title:

  1. Tires and alignment — set your baseline grip and contact patch.
  2. Springs and ride height — control how much the body moves.
  3. Anti-roll bars — balance the car front-to-rear in corners.
  4. Damping — control how fast the car settles over bumps and jumps.
  5. Brakes and differential — fine-tune entry rotation and corner-exit traction.
  6. Gearing — last, once you know the car's real top speed on a Horizon route.
Golden rule for FH6: change one setting, drive a full route or two, then judge it. Horizon's surfaces vary so much that a single corner won't tell you whether a change actually helped.

Road vs dirt vs rally

This is where FH6 setups really differ. The same car needs a very different attitude depending on the surface:

For dirt and rally builds, mechanical grip beats sharpness — soften everything, drop pressures, and raise the car so it doesn't bottom out on landings. For road builds, do the opposite: stiffen up, drop the ride height, and run higher pressures for a crisper turn-in.

Quick handling fixes

Keep this checklist handy while you test. Always reach for anti-roll bars first — they only affect cornering, which makes them the safest tool to balance the car.
